Rollsigns from Green Mountain, VT
(Local and Commuter service in Montpelier, Barre and area)
Green Mountain Transit Agency (GMTA) was chartered in 1973 by the Vermont General
Assembly after the private bus operator went out of business. It provides local and rural /
commuter public transportation in central Vermont, specifically in Washington County which
includes the state capital of Montpelier, Lamoille County and parts of Orange County,
expanding in 2009 to include Franklin and Grand Isle counties. Their bus routes connect
Burlington, Montpelier, Stowe, Lamoille Valley and the Mad River Valley. In 2011, Green
Mountain Transit Agency (GMTA) and
Chittenden County Transportation Authority (CCTA)
became a single unified organization, making CCTA the first and only regional transit authority
in the State of Vermont. On January 22, 2016, it was announced that GMTA would fully merge
with
Chittenden County Transportation Authority and be renamed Green Mountain Transit,
becoming a regional system for the entire area. The merge was finalized in October of 2016.
This mylar front route/destination
sign is dated June 20, 2003 and
has 25 exposures.

Even though the destinations on
this sign were for routes in the
Green Mountain Transit Authority
service area, the sign tag was
printed with "Chittenden County"
instead, the local transit service
in the city of Burlington area.
