Rollsigns from Toronto, ON Arrow Road Garage
These two incomplete linen rollsigns are both version "A-5". Their readings combined represent a typical Arrow Road rollsign. Through research, the date of this version is newer than November 20, 1988, as route 37 was not on the original list, but not newer than February 18, 1990. All the route 58 and 84 exposures, along with the Garage section on the side sign (right) were single exposures borrowed from other signs. The blue exposures on the front sign (left) are the overnight routes. The front sign section has 35 exposures, while the side sign section has 40 exposures. The image of the side sign has been enlarged to twice the size of normal to show print detail.
The TTC's Arrow Road Garage was the newest in the system during the heyday of rollsign use. (Mount Dennis Garage in the old City of York [2008] and McNicoll Garage in north central Scarborough [2021] are the newest now.) Arrow Road Garage's routes primarily serve the area of northwest and north central Toronto.
This mylar front rollsign is off 1975 GMC T6H-5307N New Look #8109. It is dated January 17, 1995, and has 30 exposures. The 96E destination of "York Mills Stn" was a misprint. It should have read "Wilson Stn", so a strip of sticky vinyl was placed over the misprint. However, on this sign it was mistakenly placed over the "York Mills Stn" exposure on route 96D. Its sign tag is seen below.
